Wissmach Striker Glass
All Wissmach 96 OPAL glass is striker. Strikers are glass styles with the potential for color change or opacity difference. When fired in the Kiln the glass strikes due to the ingredients that make up the specific color as the glass fires in the Kiln the ingredients mature. Strikers generally strike at or near a full fuse. For Wissmach glass, a full fuse is 1450 degrees F. Striking may also be seen slightly below this temperature.
Wissmach Glass
The Paul Wissmach Glass Company was established in 1910. Many of the color batches used by Wissmach at the turn of the century are still used today, and new glasses are continually added. Wissmach also produces 96 coe fusible glass sheets and 96 coe frit in a variety of colors.
Wissmach produces a variety of colors and textures. Known particularly for their English Muffle, Mystic, and Wisspy lines (yes, wisspy, not wispy, as in Wissmach Wisspy) They are also known for their dazzling opalescents, cathedrals and streakies.

Wissmach Luminescent Coating
Similar to iridescent coatings, but not quite the same. Use luminescent glass to create different effects depending on the way you fire it.
You can fire Luminescent Glass:
- Coated side down onto a kiln wash dusted fiber shelf and the coating will intensify.
- Coated side down onto a kiln washed shelf or shelf paper and it will still look intense but different.
- Coated side up and the luminescent coating will stay on darker colors if you fire no higher than 1410 °F, but will fade away on lighter colors giving the glass a beautiful sheen.
- Cover the coated side with a piece of clear and the coating will fade away completely.

Wissmach Prisma Fusible Glass

Wissmach is known for color mixes, so it is no surprise to find the manufacturer has created a line of kiln-forming mixes called Prisma Glass™. The first part of the color name is the more dominant color of the Prisma Glass. Each Prisma combination can come in a variety of color density, for example WI 96 28 is White with streaks of Midnight Blue; WI 96 29 is Midnight Blue with streaks of White and WI 96 30 is Midnight Blue with streaks of Crystal.
Wissmach 96
Wissmach 96 is made for glass fusing and kiln forming. Special care is taken to avoid devitrification and all Wissmach 96 glass is tested. Many colors are also available with luminescent coating.
