Simax Borosilicate Tube and Rod

Simax tubes and rods are 33 COE. High quality Simax borosilicate glass is produced to exacting standards and lends itself to a myriad of artistic lampworking and scientific glass applications. Simax is known for its stability, excellent workability and high thermal shock resistance. Meets all U.S. Pharmacopeia Standards and the demands and properties specified by international standard ISO 3585.

Simax is available in solid rod, tube, and several shape profiles. D&L stocks rod from 3 mm to 44 mm, and tubing from 9 mm to 60 mm, in various wall thicknesses. Non-stock sizes or profiles may be special ordered and range from 4 mm tubing to 180 mm outside diameter.

Measurements are given in millimeters (mm). Weight and number of pieces per case are both approximations.

Length and variance for tubing is:

• 4-7 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 20 mm with cut ends
• 8-10 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 10 mm with cut ends
• 11-48 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 10 mm with trimmed and glazed ends
• 50-165 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 5 mm with trimmed and glazed ends
• 12-50 mm outside diameter Ion-X Tubing is 500 mm length with +/- 20 mm with glazed ends

Length and variance Daisy, Iris and Scallop (Profile) tubing is:

• 15-48 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 10 mm with trimmed and glazed ends
• 50-80 mm outside diameter is 1500 mm +/- 5 mm with trimmed and glazed ends

Length and variance for rod is:

• 3-7 mm diameter rod is 1500 mm +/- 20 mm with cut ends
• 8-17 mm diameter rod is 1500 mm +/- 10 mm with cut ends
• 18-44 mm diameter rod is 1500 mm +/- 30 mm with cut ends

Length and variance for flat rod is:

• 10-17 mm diameter flat rod is 1500 mm +/- 10 mm with cut ends
• 18 mm diameter flat rod is 1500 mm +/- 30 mm with cut ends

Simax Shaped Clear Tube (or Profile) may be used to achieve special effects with less work. Scallop, Daisy and Iris shapes are available. Ion-X Colored Borosilicate Tubing is stocked in red and amber.
