Clarify the Clears

Oceanside Glass offers three clear sheet glass products (with different item numbers) as well as three cooresponding clear frit colors (with unique item numbers). To truly appreciate the difference in clears, it is best to look at the edges of the glass sheet.

Clear glass (100SF sheet code and 00F frit code) has a bit of a green hue to its finish. 
Crystal clear glass (100XTLF sheet code and 01F frit code) has a neutral finish.
Icicle clear glass (100ICEF sheet code and 02F frit code) sometimes referred to as Ice Clear, has a bluish tint. 

Oceanside Compatible™ 96 COE Frit

Crushed glass frit is made from glass recycled from the production of fusible sheet glass. Fine and powder grades are magnetically cleaned of metal residues, and all grades are fuse tested to Oceanside 96 coe fusing standard after crushing and sizing.

96 coe frit is made in 5 sizes. The standard sizes are:

• F1 Powder  (.13mm to .25mm)
• F2 Fine       (.25mm to .75mm)
• F3 Medium (.75mm to 2.5mm)
• F5 Coarse   (2.5mm to 7.6mm)
• F7 Mosaic   (7.6mm to 15mm)

Available in 8.5 oz. jars and 4 lb. jars with some 40 lb. buckets. Iridescent colors are not available in Powder or Fine.

OGT Frit images were provided by the manufacturer. Images are of raw material and may fire to a different color. Final color is also affected by the frit size and thickness of the frit application. 

Typical uses of the powder range from pate de verre to shading on fused or blown forms. Mixtures of larger sizes such as mosaic with dark colors in fine or powder provide particularly dramatic effects. Frits can also be cast into molds for fun and dramatic 3 dimensional effects.

In general, larger sizes of frit tend to fill cavities with less bubble entrapment, while smaller sizes blend colors with smoother transitions.

New Jars

Oceanside 96 Frit is transitioning to new 8.5-oz. jars. The new jars are shorter and wider with the same awesome contents inside!

D&L still has a huge inventory of the old jars still in stock, so this transition will take some time. Depending on what you order, you may receive all old jars, all new jars, or some of both. Older jars will be shipped first.
