1. How do I find a product?

We have thousands of products, so we want to help you find what you are looking for. The D&L website offers several ways to find the products you need.

Let’s start by locating five key search areas on the D&L website:

1. Category flyout menu
2. Simple Search Box
3. Advanced Search Link
4. Shop By Keyword Search
5. Location Bar

Specific or browsing? Sometimes you are just trying to find one specific item. Sometimes you are looking more generally for similar products to make a choice. Some types of searches work better depending on if you are targeting or browsing.

2. How to Search by Browsing (and Refinement!)

Think of browsing as starting with a bunch of objects and then refining down to less and less items. For browsing, the categorized flyout menu on the left side of each page of the D&L website is a great choice. Major categories, such as Glass, Lampworking or Jewelry are click-able or choose a subcategory for an immediate subset of the products. For the broadest range of items, click on the category (for example, Glass) or use the top link from the flyout menu (for example, All Glass). In the case of glass, it takes a few moments to load (there are so many glass choices to load up!), but now you have Shop By options which have been added to the left navigation area of the page.

Shop By always starts with a Filter by Keyword option. This text search area is different than the simple search box at the top right of each page. When you enter text in Filter by Keyword you are not searching the entire inventory, but only the products within the group of products you are in, in our example, that would be Glass only.

Below Filter by Keyword, the Shop By area shows options for refining the products. Under Special you will see New, Sale or Closeout items from the group of products you have selected (in our example, still Glass). Next is Product Type, either Glass or Tools (as you might have guessed under the category Glass all the items are product type glass). And last in the top section is Color. Click on a color swatch to see all glass that matches the color selected. Color includes all colors in an item, for example, blue and red streaky on clear Fremont glass would show up in the colors red, blue and clear.

Refinement options after Color always include Manufacturer and Unit of Sale which can help further refine. Click the triangle to the right of the word Manufacturer to see the top 5 represented manufacturers in the product group. Click View All to see all the manufacturers from the product group. Additional refinement options will vary depending on your search. In the case of glass, our options for refining include Glass Style, Glass Texture and Coefficient among others. Again click on the arrow to the right of a Shop By area to view the refinement options available under any heading.

Using Shop By you can easily undo or remove parts of your search as well. There are two locations to unfilter the search. The first location is within the Shop By area on the left side. You may unfilter individual refinements by selecting unfilter or you may unfilter all the refinements. You may also undo part of your search using the location bar (often called bread crumbs) at the top of the products page. This is the bold text above the Select and Sort by options. A small gray x appears next to items you can remove from the search.

3. Looking For a Specific Item

If you're looking for a specific product, the quickest place to start is with the simple search box on the top right of each page. The simple search box looks for the entered text in item codes, item descriptions, categories and sub-categories. Do not use ", AND, NOT or the like. Our simple search looks for an exact string match, so if you do not get the result you were looking for, try using fewer words or a partial word, such as irid for iridized, until you get some results. Remember once you have some results, you can always refine.

Even when looking for a specific product, you may need to start with a larger group and refine down to the specific. For example, you recall seeing a gold colored bail and want to find it again. You could enter bail in the simple search. From there you could Shop By Material and select the gold-plate option to see all gold-plated bails.

Also remember once you have located a specific item, you can remove some of the refinements to broaden the search and find similar items. You can also click on the name of the subcategory on the location bar to broaden the search and find similar items.

Any search which produces more than one result will automatically include two pulldown options of the top left of the results page:   Select: a list of every subcategory where products were found   Sort by: options for Sorting the results.

Select: a subcategory from the pulldown to only see results which fall under the subcategory selected. For example a search for the word metal will result in hundreds of products returned, but selecting Brass Came from the subcategory listing on the results page, you will see fewer results.

Sort by: You may choose to sort the results by Date Added (to D&L's inventory), by Item number (alphanumeric) or by Description (product description, also alphanumeric). The default sort is by Bestsellers, showing you our most popular items first.

4. Advanced Searching

The Advanced Search is another great option when looking for a specific product quickly or for a broad base of products to refine through. Click on the Advanced Search link at the top right of any page and you will arrive at a special search page.

The Advanced Search allows you to use one or more of the following options to locate an item:

Product Type:
Manufacturer:
Category:
Color:
Glass Style:
Glass Texture:
Coefficient:
Unit of Sale:
Special:
Keywords:
Added since Date: MM/DD/YYYY
Search Books only

If you want to pinpoint a single item, you will want to use several search criteria, for example, you remember seeing a Uroboros fusible sheet of thin glass in blue. Try:

Manufacturer: Uroboros Glass
Color: Blue
Glass Style: Thin
Coefficient: 96 coe

Press Search and in one move you have limited the results to a small group of products.

You can also use Advanced Search to gather a larger group of items (more results) by using only one or two of the options, for example:

Color: Green
Coefficient: 90 coe.

Press Search and you now have pages of results which could be further refined using the Shop By to select for Dichroic, for example.

The Advanced Search is especially helpful when looking for glass. There is also a checkbox option to search books only making the Advanced Search a great tool for books as well as glass. For example, you can see all the books by CKE Publications currently stocked at D&L by selecting CKE on the Manufacturer pull-down menu and checking the box for books only. You may Sort Results by Date Added to find the list of books in reverse chronological order.

Of course the more you try searching, the better you will get at it.

5. How do I find new items?
If you want to find new items on the D&L website you may click on What's New at the top of any page. You may also find the newest items from a specific group of items via the Sort By: Date Added feature. Let's say you want to see what Spectrum Glass has added recently. From the Glass fly out menu, select Spectrum, then choose Sort Results: Date Added. The list will re-sort to show the most recent additions first.

6. Additional Information
When you click on any item number or image from the catalog or results page of the website, you will go to Additional Information page for that item. If you are logged in, the Additional Information page includes full pricing information and the opportunity to order the item. In addition it may contain some or all of the following:

• Quantity Breaks and Prices - Items with discounts based on quantities purchase will show a table to help you make the best choice for quantity and price.
• Mixable Information and Price and a link to view items it mixes with - Mixable products will display a Mix line, letting you know the number of items needed to be mixed for the best price which is shown. Also there is a link to Display Mixable Products. This link will open a new window listing all the items which can be mixed. Clicking on any item in the mixable list will take you to that item in the new window. Locate your original page in the original window. You may order from either window and all items will be included in the same shopping cart.
• A link to a larger image - When a larger image is available, you will see the View Larger Image link. This link will replace the current page with a similar page which has a bigger image. You will be able to order, see pricing, see Additional Information and even Related Products from the new window.
• Additional Information - Additional Information about the product is shown about half way down the page. Additional Information may include directions or links to PDFs or movies or web sites with additional instructions.
• Related Products - Items related to and / or useful with the item you are viewing are shown at the bottom of the Additional Information page. Click on any of these Related Items to go to the Additional Information page about them. Or, just add whatever quantity you’d like, right from the Additional Information page.

7. What if I need more help?

8. How do I join D&L?
First you must apply for an account. A complete wholesale application to D&L Art Glass Supply® includes a questionnaire plus documentation. Click HERE for the questionnaire and click HERE for the checklist of documents. You will be notified when your application has been accepted.

9. How do I create a login for the D&L website?
You must have an account with D&L in order to create a login. Current customers may request a login by clicking HERE. Not yet a D&L customer? Click HERE to start the application process.

10. How do I find pricing?
All current customers have access to online pricing from D&L when they login. Click HERE to login. If you do not have a login, current customers may request one by clicking HERE. If you are not yet a customer, click HERE to start the application process.

11. Pricing for current D&L customers
Just login to see prices. (Click HERE to login). If you do not have a login, current customers may request one by clicking HERE. Current D&L customers will see pricing information for every product as you view the page! Online pricing is the most current pricing avaiable, but it also subject to change without notice.

The D&L shopping cart's easy-to-read icons makes it obvious when better pricing is possible. From the cart or catalog page, a green dot with dollar sign indicates the item has quantity breaks for a better price. Items with discounts based on quantities purchase will show a table to help you make the best choice for quantity and price.

A blue M icon indicates you can mix the item with similar items for a discount at a specified quantity. Click on the M to go to the Additional Information page and you will see the Mix price. Also there will be a link to Display Mixable Products, the items that can be mixed to reach the quantity. This link will open a new window listing all the items which can be mixed. Clicking on any item in the mixable list will take you to that item in the new window. Locate your original page in the original window. You may order from either window and all items will be included in the same shopping cart. Note: when you reach the Mix number all the mixable items in your cart will automatically update to the better price!

When you see a yellow star in your cart, you know you have the best possible price on that item!

You may also Download or print a PDF Price Guide from the D&L website. Simply login and click on the Customer Files link at the top of any page. Instructions for downloading the Price Guide and obtaining Adobe Acrobat are included on the Customer Files page. The Price Guide is listed in item number order. Discounts are shown with quantities listed per unit of measure (for example Bullseye Glass is sold by the pound; Uroboros is sold by the square foot, etc.). If you have a slow internet connection, we recommend downloading the Price Guide to your computer and using it off-line from your hard drive.

12. How do I know what my order will cost?

As you place items into your cart, you will be shown an ESTIMATED order total for products only. The cart total excludes shipping charges. It also excludes boxing, crating & pallet charges for Glass.

When you place your order, the confirmation email will NOT show the estimated order total. Variables like glass sheet weights and sizes may change the total price of an order slightly. Your final invoice included with the shipment will reflect the exact price of each item in your order.

Exact pricing information can be provided prior to shipping at your request. Note that if you request pricing information and we are unable to contact you it will delay the shipment of your order.

13. How do I place an order with D&L?
You must have a current account and a login to place an order online. If you do not have an account, click HERE for information on applying. If you do not have a login, current customers may request one by clicking HERE.

Once you have logged in, you will notice each item has a quantity box and Add to Order button. To add any item, simply adjust the quantity as needed and click the Add to Order button. Items must be added one at a time. As you add items, you will remain on the same page, but you will notice a message at the top of the screen telling you the item has been added. Use any search method to locate the items you wish to add.

You may review your order at any time by clicking the View Order button and the top of the page. (Note you have additional options at the top of each screen after login.) Use the View Cart to adjust quantities, remove items and to place the order.

14. How do I order more efficiently?
Swift Order is intended for customers who are familiar with D&L's item numbers. You may enter up to ten items at a time. Simply enter the D&L item number and quantity. The items will be added directly to your order. You may continue adding ten more items, etc. View or change swift order items at any time by clicking View Order.

15. How do I save an order in process?
Use your D&L login to place or start an order! The D&L website may be used as your shopping/restocking list. You may compile your order over whatever period of time you choose. Add items to your order normally, but instead of clicking on Proceed to Checkout, select the Save and Logout button (shopping cart screen, bottom/left). The next time you login, your order will still be there, waiting for you. Save and Logout as often as you like and when you're ready to place the order, click on 'Proceed to Checkout'. We'll do the rest!

16. What happens when I place an order?
When you place an order using D&L online, you will automatically receive a detailed copy of the order via email. The D&L web site does not include pricing linked to the products. However, you may view or print the price guide from the Customer Files area (instructions were give above). In addition, each e-order will be confirmed by phone or fax. Pricing information can also be provided by phone, email, or as a FAXed sales order during the order confirmation process at your request. Nothing will be shipped without your approval. There is plenty of room to add comments to your order if needed. Each E-order is handled with care and attention by the D&L staff.

17. Why should I order online?
D&L's online ordering available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and even on holidays. In addition, orders placed online are stored for you. You may review past orders or even print them. Click on Order History after you login to see your previous orders.

18. What if I'm not comfortable placing an order online?
You may also place your order with D&L via FAX or by calling us. To FAX an order, write down the item numbers and quantities you need. Be sure to include a phone number where we can reach you along with the best time to call. To place an order by phone, just call us. We are ready to assist you from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Time at 800-525-0940.

19. How do I tell you about a change to my email, phone number, or address?
Login to the D&L website and click on My Account. Updates to your account made on My Account page will be stored. Changes made during the order process are not permanently stored.

20. How do I order a product from my catalog that I can't find on the website?
The D&L website is the most current listing of products available from D&L. The printed catalog was accurate when printed, but we add and remove products almost daily. You will find all available products listed on our website. Other items may be available as special orders. Just ask. Email us about any specific item you require.
